can a carabiner with the strength of 1700 pounds be used as a rock-climbing anchor?

i just found some old (not to old) carabiners that say (1700 pounds) or 8kn i think
i was just wondering if there were acceptable carabiners for a typical top-rope anchor for rock-climbing

Can you place a HDD vertical with out damaging it?

I am designing a computer setup where the computers will be mounted on the wall instead of in boxes. Normally HDD are laid flat but i was wondering if you could put them vertical with out harming the mechanics of the hard drive?

Should I trade Matt Schaub for TJ houshmandzadeh?

2qb league and my other QB's are Jon Kitna, Tony Romo, and Trent Green.
I my number 3 WR is Bryant Johnson.


I"d pull the trigger on that. I don't think Schaub is any better than Kitna or Green and Housh is a big upgrade over Johnson
