i'm rebuilding a 1993 looper 60degree v-6 175hp johnson?
i'm trying to put 6 new pistons in my motor
i ordered 3 port and 3 starboard pistons
there are no markings except on top(std for standard)
there are 2 circles stamped inside the piston skirt
one inside the other and the center circle touches one side of the outer circle---which clarifies port or starboard.
but which way do i install the piston on the pin so its design is right
there is a cutaway on the bottom of the piston skirts---which way does it face?
towards the stator or the other end of the block?
any thoughts?
heres what the piston looks like

Hum? Look at the heads. You'll see the boss in the head has the cutout for the piston. Simply orient the piston to the head orientation. It's pretty simple. If the engine is well worn I'd think oversize pistons would be needed. If the Cylinder walls where honed I'd go with having your machine shop bore and fit .030 pistons. I've seen used engines run very poor after honing then std. pistons/and new rings installed.
You can tell up and down side of the piston by the "loose" marking on the wrist pin hole.
