How to Invest in the New Economy

When Hope and Change Replace Earnings Reports?

In case you haven’t heard by now, Obama’s first 100 days have come and gone and despite what you may have been led to believe, you are still here. You’ve persevered through the bank stress tests, you’ve outlasted the dreaded swine-flu, and you’ve overcome all of the failed policies of every President ever to not be named Barack Obama. Now what?

  1. Gone are the days of free-market capitalism; say hello to direct government participation!

We already know that Obama likes to moon-light as a stock market guru, but can we be sure that his policies and rhetoric will be good for private business? Well that all depends. Look no further than the proposed budget and the stimulus program. The devil is in the details, as they say.

There’s plenty of talk about which sectors of the economy might do well and which might not. Let’s take a look at a few of them:

First the GOOD (companies that should benefit the most):

Alternative energy.  A mainstay of Obama’s platform, green energy companies stand to receive a large portion of the stimulus package. In fact, some folks claim that clean energy stocks will be to this decade what internet stocks were to the late 1990s. Don’t believe me? Check out First Solar (FSLR).

Basic materials. These stocks will benefit from all of the new construction initiatives that have been put forth.  Caterpillar (CAT) and US Steel (X) could do well.

Now the BAD (companies that may benefit although too early to tell):

Healthcare.   There’s been a lot of talk recently about the universal healthcare program and whether or not it will be good for healthcare stocks, particularly the insurers. These companies have already agreed to price-cuts which could affect profitability. Not to mention that the details of how the plan is going to work have not been released yet.  Aetna (AET) and United Healthcare (UNH) could be in play.

Financials. A necessary evil. Obama has not hid his disdain for this group, and they have received a lot of TARP money. Whether or not they can return to profitability remains to be seen. Keep an eye on Citigroup (C), Wells Fargo (WFC), and Bank of America (BAC).

And the UGLY (companies that must defy the odds to do well):

Big Oil. The only group hated as much as the financial sector.  The antithesis to green energy stocks. They have already had tax considerations reduced, are getting no stimulus money, and have been publically castigated. Look out Exxon (XOM) and Chevron (CVX).

Defense. The biggest cuts in the Obama Budget have been in defense and military spending. This could make it a challenging environment for defense contractors General Dynamics (GD) and Raytheon (RTN).

These are just a few of the domestic themes which have yet to be played out here in the US. But does this mean that the “good” sectors should be bought, and the “ugly” should be sold?

Not necessarily. There are many different factors that go into choosing an investment besides what the President of the United States likes best.   The overall investing climate is affected by factors such as inflation, taxes, interest rates, employment and so forth.   That is why it is so important, especially in today’s investing environment, to learn about the different relationships and factors that affect your investments.

Techno Designs offers Ball Mills in various styles such as Batch, Continues, Jacketed and Non Jacketed for powder grinding and wet

grinding of various materials as varied as Minerals to Pigments.

The Ball Mills are versatile grinding equipments and are used by Pigments, Paints, Minerals industries.

Techno Designs has specialized in manufacturing of Continuous Ball Mills for various applications.

The unique feature of the mill is its assembly. The shaft run outs for mills of 20000 Ltrs capacity is less than 200 microns. The support

bases are from fabricated plate sections and the top plate where the bearings rest are planed to give a perfect seating.

Continuous Mills are offeredin1)EndPeripheralDischargetype2)TrunionDischargetypeand3)AirSwepttype.

Jacketed mills are offered for cooling as well as for heating applications also.

TECHNO DESIGNS HAS ALREADY MANUFACTURED MILLS WITH GROSS VOLUMETRIC CAPACITY OF 25000 LTRS WITH DRIVE MOTOR OF 425 H.P.

TECHNO Bead Mills are capable of producing finely dispersed finished product from directly charged raw materials.

Three operations of premixing, grinding and dispersing are combined within one machine. The machine operates on the principle of shear created within the mass differential of product and grinding media. The grinding medium is moved to the vessel wall by the action of the specially designed disc impeller. This constantly moving mass of grinding media is force-flowed up the side of the vertical vessel wall, the action continuing until the vortex spiral directs the media movement towards the agitator shaft for another continuous cycle of events.

The main grinding shell is jacketed for cooling. This is a very speedy operation wherein major products are achieved to the respective gauges in about 1-1/2 hours time.

The applications are Synthetic enamels, Water based primers, Red oxide primers, Artist colours, Flexography inks, Industrial finishes.

Techno Designs offers Horizontal as well as Vertical Sand Mills for wet grinding of various kinds of materials such as Pigments, Agrochemicals, Dyes, Paints, Minerals and various other type chemicals etc. This is primarily used for size reduction of the materials. This Bead Mills are used for continuous dispersion and fine wet grinding for high to low viscosity pumpable fluids.

PRINCIPLE

The necessary energy for grinding is given by rotating the beads by means of discs fixed on the agitator. The grinding beads transfers the energy to the material and high shear and high peripheral velocities reduces the particle size of the material to be ground.

CONTINUOUS

It consists of a Horizontal/Vertical Cylindrical jacketed shell with a central shaft on which number of discs is fixed. The shell is provided with cooling jacket. The shaft end is sealed by double mechanical seal The feed pump and the electric panel is mounted on the main machine with all necessary required instrumentation and controls. The grinding beads are separated from the material by means of gap separator or by Wedge Screen.

Techno Designs offers RVD for clean, simple and effective way of drying of wet cakes, wet powders, slurries where either solvent is to be recovered or drying is to be carried out at relatively low temperature for heat sensitive material.

CONSTRUCTION

It contains a hollow shaft with specially designed hollow arms, which are heated by steam / hot water/ thermic fluid; rotating in a centrally jacketed shell. The entire shell area is effectively covered by the specially designed scrapper arms, which scrape the entire internal surface of the dryer and continuously move and rotate the material remaining in contact with hot surfaces for protracted periods of time. This reduces the drying time.

OPERATION

After starting agitation, feed is charged and vacuum is applied in RVD, dust catcher, condenser and receiver. Then heating the mass causes vapor to evaporate, which is subsequently condensed and collected in receiver. The recovery of solvent is maximum and drying time is low because of higher heat transfer, vacuum and intensive mixing.

SALIENT FEATURES

As each material is unique in nature, Techno Designs offers pilot trial for understanding drying behaviour and predicting data on power and heat input along with drying time. Optional features like breaker bar (for minimizing lump formation for particle size reduction), nitrogen purging (for explosion proof environment), stationary scrapper blades ( for scrapping rotating agitator for highly sticky material), sampling valve (for collecting samples during vacuum application), flame proof motors (for Ex-proof environment)
