1974BertramMY-with ONAN gen.15kw. Has relay betwn battery & starter...why relay? Can it be bypassed?
Relay is metal cannister-type, w/2 hvy duty studs for cable betwn battery & starter. Also has 2 lite wires from relay, one to ground other with 15Amp inline fuse to +. Switch on control panel & 15Amp bus fuse keep blowing. Do not know if relay is defective. Unit was installed by Bertram & not included in ONAN manual.
you can bypass the relay for testing the starter, the relay is just there so the large battery wires don't have to be run to the ignition switch, the relay closes the battery to starter circuit when the ignition switch is closed, check the ignition switch by bypassing that with a jumper - oh heck, try one of these
