Off Key

When I shut the key off on my ignition in my car, it doesn't kill the car? I have an older truck, datsun. When I shut the key off it doesn't kill the truck I have to put it in gear and drop the clutch to kill it. Anyone that can help please respond Its not anything like that, it all runs fine the ignition switch isnt corroded. Some of the wires shorted out and we noticed while fixing it that we really have no clue if theres a wire that should go somewhere to shut it off If the key is in the steering column ( which I believe they all are ), it sounds like the ignition switch itself. Not the lock cylinder, but the actual ignition switch which probably is corroded. Hope this helps a bit.
