Various Types and the Materials Used In Roofing
The most important component of the home is roof. The structure which forms a protective covering on the top of the building is called roof and the process is called roofing. It is often used on the top of the commercial buildings. Flat: It is easy to build and requires less labor and materials, when compared to other types. Gabled: This type has two slopes forming a peak at the top and it should be braced tightly, otherwise it gets collapsed due to high winds. It is easy to remove the snow from the gable. There exist two kinds of gable such as cross and front gable.
Gambrel: When installed, it gives the appearance of a bell, it may be facing either sideward or frontward.
Hipped: It is more aerodynamic enabling it to withstand high winds. It is most commonly used in bungalow type homes.
The material and the type of the roof should be chosen, considering the following criteria; - Cost. - Availability. - Style. - Durability. - Longevity. - Resistance to fire.
Maintenance of roofs - If you maintain it properly, the roof will remain intact, waterproof and free from damage. Make sure the roof is water tight; attic should be insulated well, and be sure the attic is ventilated well.
