Sea-Doo gas mileage question?
I had a 2005 Sea-Doo GTX with the 4-stroke engine, but I could barely ride it because I couldnt afford to put gas in it. I put in 5 gallons and in 30 minutes that would be gone, so I sold it. I was looking into getting an older model Sea-Doo XP or GSX with the 951 2-stroke, 2-cylinder engine, because i know 2-strokes are alot more fun and the XP has that incredible hull design or whatever. But would that 951 2-stroke engine get any better gas mileage than these new huge 4-strokes? p.s. i think sea-doo used that 951 engine in 1998-2004..thanks
Fuel economy is pretty close. The 951cc engine BRP makes is still available in the 3D. I had a 2002 GTX 951 carb that would go through a tank in an hour at WOT but only use about 1/2 at 1/2 throttle. Found out that 35 MPH was about the best fuel economy. 2 Strokes are not Illegal and still made for Kawasakis, Yamahas, and Sea-Doos. I would still go for the 4 stroke models if I were you but get a RXP and go light on the throttle. If you like waves, the XPL or GSXL are your choices, but 2-strokes are problems.
