mercman.. 68 evinrude....?
ok,i get only 9.5 volts to amp., with old battery,i have been jumping it with auto battery, how do i get more volts to amp??,as previous.. all plugs out no spark unless i jump wire from points to amp,i get good spark. all but one plug in and crank ign. no spark...thanks mercman!!
Thanks, we are getting near the end of my memory on this. 9.5 v is barley enough to fire the box. The jumper wire may just show the wire in bad.
I would suggest at this point, lets look at the voltage first. If you put you meter across the battery and crank the motor, do you still show less than 11.5 v cranking, try a new 550 cca or higher battery. If stays up there then check the voltage at the starter solenoid battery cable and ground cable, if it is low there and not the battery, you cables are bad. If the voltage is good there also, we will need some wire colors and where they go.
Lets get this issue solved first.
